Wave Field Synthesis

Since June 2007, the Wave Field Synthesis sound reproduction system of The Game of Life Foundation has been uswd intensively the Institute of Sonology. The installation with 192 loudspeakers and 8 subwoofers is permanently available in the Scheltema Complex in Leiden. Sonology students work under the supervision of Wouter Snoei (programmer of the WFS interface, guest teacher) and Raviv Ganchrow (designer and builder of the speaker system, teacher Sound and Space) on new software implementations and/or new electronic compositions specially made for WFS.

During the academic year, concerts are presented on a regular basis.
