remote VFUG
april 2010
The old VFUG's generators are available online. The patch for driving th VFUG's can be downloaded from the dowload page. Joep Jan van der Hoeven graduated with the OpenSoundControl based audio mixer. This mixer is installed now with the VFUG's and makes it possible to drive the different volmue's remotely. Also all switches on the VFUG's can be remotly controlled.

Old Sonology generators are available in I-tunes! We hooked up 8 function generators to the new OSC-CV board and streaming the audio to the following address: 10.1.52.252:8100. How do you do that: Open I-tunes, go to 'advanced' and open a new url. Fill in the address and port number above. Login name is:ipson and password is also ipson. Now you'll hear the generators.

By sending the right string information to 10.1.60.68:10001, the pitch of the generators can be changed. With a delay of around 5 seconds, the changes can be heard. For the time being, this will only work for connections within the building/network of the Conservatory. We will open some ports to the outside world soon.

Ofcourse this is still a 'toy' and just created to test the OSC-CV board. Play with it!

December 2008: New OSC-CV board
osc_cv_board
The new OSC to CV card provides 16 channels of control voltage output, with a resolution of 12 bit (4096 steps). The card can be directly connected to the IpSonCompact and IpSonLab. The onboard PIC18F1220 processor takes the RS-232 from the Xport, both used on the IpSonLab and the IpSonCompact to drive the two DA convertors. The 16 control voltages are generated by two TI TLV5610 DA convertors. Each output of the TLV5610 is buffered by a TLC274 opamp, providing the possibility to also drive 0-10V (external voltage) by setting a jumper.

March 2008: Pure Data version available for IpSonCompact
pd_logo
With help of Angel and Johan, I was able to create a working patch for Pure data (PD). I made a patch for PD-extended which can be downloaded at the download section.
The PureData application can be downloaded here: http://puredata.info/downloads.

November 2007 : new test patches available for PC and MacOSX
A lot of new students are working with the IpSonCompact at the moment. Therefore I updated the download page and added some test patches for PC and MacOSX. With these patches you can use the separte strings (/ic /ut /cf) of the IpSonCompact. Testing your setup will be easier this way. I also included a folder with some OSC-max objects. When you never used OpenSoundControl before on your computer, you have to install these objects first. For more information about OSC objects and different downloads (e.a. intel version, Max 4.6 xx ), you have to search at cycling74. Check here.

October 2007: New 12 bit DA board for IpSonCompact
We developed a new little 'add-on' board for the IpSonCompact. It consists of 12 times 12bit DA convertors (ltc1452) and one little processor (pic18f1220), driving the serial convertors. I just finished the experimental version (pcb is handmade), but I'm adding a picture here anyway. It really works stable and fast.

October 2007: New IpSonCompact patch
Johan van Kreij made a first version of a new IpSonCompact patch. It's very compact and all variables are adjustable (ip-addres, portnumber ..) Johan is still working on an improved version where in's and out's can be linked through software. The first version can soon be downloaded at his own website: http://www.jvkr.nl . An impression:

june 2007: IpSonComPact with 12 bit resolution!
We upgraded the sensor input resolution of the IpSonCompact from 10 bit (1024 values) to 12 bit (4096 values). This has been realised with the use of the PIC18F4523.

April 2007: New Sensor Interface, the IpSonCompact
We developed a new Compact OSC interface, the IpSonCompact. It's very fast and compact. Reading 13 sensor inputs and driving 14 digital/pwm outputs; all in one little device. Check it out!

december 2006:
New software is available for the IpSonLab: Mac OSX native application with full communication with the IpSonLab. Some Little Noise Makers ("kraakdoos" and simple theremin) are made for the IpSonLab user to download. Check it out. New 'simple' Max/Msp patch available.

IpSonLab Internet Protocol Sonology Lab. The latest developments. Communication through Ethernet (Open Sound Control). Reading 32 sensor inputs (8 bit), reading Greycode and driving up to 64 digital outputs. Driving 16 analog DC voltage outputs with a 12 bits resolution through OSC. Or driving servo- and dc- motors through OSC.
